Spotlight On: Military Family Fund Committee

My name is Bryan Benson. I am a veteran of Desert Storm and the Global War on Terror. Throughout my military career, I have been deployed multiple times overseas to combat zones.

Each time, I returned home more disconnected from friends, family and even myself. I attended the Pathways training a little over two years ago and the impact it has had on my life is beyond measure. The training is powerful and life-changing!  I now serve inside the organization as a Training Assistant and Chairman on the MFFC  (Military Family Fund Committee). I serve to give back, but beyond that, to pay it forward. I believe there are countless veterans who have returned and are returning home, faced with loss, divorce, PTSD, physical injuries and more. More veterans commit suicide than die in combat. This training can give them a chance to restore their lives. The MFF provides assistance to veterans and their families to receive this training. I believe they deserve the opportunity to heal in ways they never thought possible.

If you know of a military person or family member who deserves this training, contact Clark Depue at This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it. .

A Soldier and Marine Finds His Humanity

Jack's Phone 004bMeet Jack Noble (Pathways Class 291), Staff Sgt. US Army 99-04 (OIF-OEF), Sgt USMC 93-99. Jack knew a thing or two about leading and serving. Having been a Staff Sergeant in both the US Army and the US Marine Corp, he knew about being responsible for other people and getting things done in the face of adversity. That is, he knew how to do that in the military. His personal life, on the other hand, was a different story.

We Do Help Pay the Price

“I am a strong, trusting compassionate woman who is honorable, trustworthy and worthy of God’s love!”

lynnMy name is Stephanie Lynn and I recently graduated the Pathways Core Training in April. I have gained confidence in myself as a woman, mother, and wife. I didn't realize until I got there just how much I needed it, and now I can't imagine my life without it. My husband was in the Army and served a 15 month deployment, but I like to say that we both served that time.  Spouses at home may not have been shot at or risked our lives the way our soldiers did, but we do help pay the price.

I Was Mr. Tough Guy

meetryanlynnMeet Ryan Lynn who served in the Army in the Stryker Calvary Regiment and was deployed for a total of 15 months in Iraq with a specialty in combat.

“Having a combat [specialty], there is no room for weakness, no room to be vulnerable, because when that happens, people die. The hard part is being able to leave that behind and not bring it into your family life.”

I Felt Like I Was Drowning

“I am a strong, confident woman.”

apw1Pathways helped me to deal with things from my past that were affecting my everyday life and it also helped give me tools that taught me to live with heart and integrity. I am a mother of 3 children, a wife, and caregiver of a wounded soldier who suffers from PTSD / TBI and so I have a unique set of circumstances at home.

I was to the point of not being able to deal with my life in large part because his injuries changed our lives. I felt like I was drowning.
