Kayden Joy Fund for Families of Special Needs ChildrenKayden Joy Fund for Families of Special Needs Children Emily Perl Kingsley once wrote about having a child with a disability: It's like this...... When you're going to have a baby, it's like planning a fabulous vacation trip - to Italy. You buy a bunch of guide books and make your wonderful plans. The Coliseum. The Michelangelo David. The gondolas in Venice. You may learn some handy phrases in Italian. It's all very exciting. After months of eager anticipation, the day finally arrives. You pack your bags and off you go. Several hours later, the plane lands. The stewardess comes in and says, "Welcome to Holland." Read moreTuesday, 08 June 2010 10:31

When I Returned from VietnamWhen I returned from Vietnam in 1967 I felt something was wrong with me, but I could not put my finger on it. I was picked up at the Bus Station in Bakersfield California by my sister, Tina and a friend. We said Hi and got in to the car and drove home. When we got to the house, there were people there to welcome me home, as soon as I waked into the house and saw all of these people (friends from before and other people I knew from before). Suddenly I felt as if I had to get out of there. I did not belong there, they could all see everything I had done and I needed to leave. Read moreThursday, 15 April 2010 22:53

17 years ago, I attended Pathways unaware17 years ago, I attended Pathways unaware of the many layers of garbage I had surrounded myself with. As I peeled off these layers, I found love and acceptance, not only from others, but for myself. I found that honesty won over lies and deceit. After a 5 year hiatus from Pathways, I returned only to find myself back in the same place. Only this time, I knew my life could be better, I knew the tools. Read moreThursday, 15 April 2010 23:23
